I loveMY doughnuts (donuts)! Obnoxious? Perhaps. BUT I just really enjoy homemade-anything.

What Is The Secret Ingredient In This Doughnut Hole Recipe?

These Yogurt Doughnut Holes hail from my beautiful Macedonia.

Funny thing is, IN Macedonia these doughnut holes are called, “American Doughnuts”! And the reason they carry this name is because of the round shape. But when I asked the street vendor in Macedonia about his secret ingredient in these “American Doughnuts”, he said, “YOGURT! What else?!”… which is what Macedonians use for every.thing, from a sunburn to a Pita. American doughnuts, indeed.

Does This Doughnut Recipe Use Quick Bread Dough Or Yeast Bread Dough?

Doughnuts can be made from a quick bread dough or a yeast bread dough. These are definitely a quick bread – ain’t nobody got time for the dough to rise. Also, the yogurt is the secret to keeping them super light and moist, and the addition of 2 tablespoons vanilla is to keep them extra flavorful. If you want, use only 1 tablespoon, but I still think you should use 2.

If you are looking for a flavorful, light and fluffy doughnut to enjoy, consider giving these a try. Hit that save button and make them today! OR this weekend. You will love ’em!!
