Broccoli stir fry recipe | Indian style spicy version - Raks Kitchen (1)

This is the first time I cooked broccoli at home, but I have had twice before in form of kofta and in sizzlers.

Both me and my hubby are not big fan of this vegetable, in fact Vj hates this veggie. So never thought of buying and cooking at home.

Because of its nutritional value I wanted to make my kid eat this one. He loves cauliflower, so I had a confidence that he might like as its looks resemble cauliflower.

And so I made along with fried rice one day and he just loved the combo. Now I am happy that I tried!

What I love

The ginger is the main factor that removes the broccoli's typical flavor and along with sambar powder, it just turns the whole stir fry to Indian style.

It's all about the ingredients we use and it's flavor that decides the recipe right.

Even after draining the parboiled broccoli they leave out water in the kadai for which 3-4 mins of covered cooking does not evaporate the water. Also broccoli becomes soggy. Please suggest solution

We were given a large head of broccoli and I was looking for ideas about cooking it when I came across your recipe. I followed your recipe carefully apart from adding a few chilli flakes, and served it with a little rice and a poppadum. It went down really well, so many thanks for the idea. Will definitely repeat!

Sorry, some of us Americans don't know what you mean by "temper" - does this mean just cook it some?

    Reply

    • Raks Anand

Oh I am sorry for short of details. Temper means usually heat oil and splutter with spices mentioned like mustard, cumin seeds or curry leaves in super hot oil without burning them.

      Reply

  67. Sharon

Hi - do you mean mustard or mustard seed? It is not clear to me.
